How Spine Function works

New Spine Function Test helped Rajani avoid surgery for her back pain

Rajani Iyer, 45 had been suffering from lower back pain for the last 5 years; with a gradual increase in pain intensity over time. In 2016, she had a major back pain episode which completely restricted her mobility. The pain spread to both her legs and she was unable to stand or walk for more than 5 minutes. MRI revealed disc protrusion (Slipped disc) at L3-L4, L4-L5 and L5-S1.

She consulted 4 doctors who recommended her to undergo surgery.

“Surgery” the word I dreaded each day and night. It was not just physical pain but mental too. I started feeling my life has come to a standstill.” says Rajani.

During this time one of her relatives recommended her to visit QI Spine Clinic. “The diagnosis at the clinic was very accurate, it involved the latest techniques and used new sophisticated technology that could show the root cause of the pain”. She underwent a Digital Spine Analysis (DSA) that showed the weak tissues in her spine that were not functioning. This is the first time a test could show what was causing her problems.

How a digital spine analysis can help?

Your back is made up of bones, disc, nerves and soft muscle tissue. Back pain is caused when the excess load from the muscles falls on the bones and discs. Most spine surgeries are based on tests like MRI’s and X-rays which focus on the structural diagnosis of the condition. Newer tests like DSA, test your spine function as well which can help spine specialists individualise your muscles and pinpoint the exact cause of pain. This helps to develop a more targeted treatment approach.

In Rajani’s case, the DSA identified the weak muscles and deficiencies in the load-bearing layers of her muscles. If she underwent surgery, it would not strengthen this weak tissue and her pain could come back. Now that the doctors know the cause of her pain the first line of treatment was clear and surgery was not the answer.

With the threat of surgery eliminated, Rajani began the precise treatment protocol that helped isolate and regenerate her soft tissue. QI Spine Clinic’s advanced pain-reducing technology and isolation treatment of the spine helped her avoid spine surgery.

“Not only my back pain has vanished but I am mentally stronger and getting back to my normal routine,” she said happily.

Recent research has shown that conservative treatment (non-invasive) is best for majority back pain cases. Surgery is required in less than 2% of cases. QI Spine Clinic has the largest team of medical spine specialists in India and has helped over 8000 patients avoid surgery. Call: 8655885566
